It's bye bye for now!
An essential lesson that I’ve learned in life is to know when, despite all the passion and commitment you might have to for something, it’s time to call it a day.
This newsletter, is one such example (as briefly lived as it was!).
I love Product, I love writing (and, in fact, even writing this now, I’m reminded how much I love those two things) and I really do want to help people get into Product. It simply is an awesome role.
However, there’s so much I want to do with my time (getting good at my job, as a new Product Manager; I’m writing and illustrating a book on how to overcome depression; I’m taking an illustration course etc. etc.). As all good Product Managers know - there has to come a time when you prioritise. I was finding that I didn’t have the time or the energy to write a decent newsletter (especially after a long work day) - and so I knew it was time to call it a day.
Meanwhile, there are so many great Product newsletters and resources out there for those of you that are still on your journey to becoming a Product Manager.
Lisa Zane has just released her brilliant resource pack - The Product Manager’s Career Guide - a 30-day playbook for early and aspiring product managers to help you design your career consciously. (There is a discount code on twitter at the moment if you have a browse!)
PM Diego Granados is excellent on twitter and has tons of resources on his website (including a load of free ones).
Instead, I’m going to be focusing my time on mentoring others to help them into Product roles.
I hope to still pop back to this list and send out the odd email when the inspiration strikes. So I won’t be shutting it down completely. There are over 100 hundred of you subscribed to this list (who signed up in a relatively short time) and I feel extremely grateful for that (and I love that so many people stumbled across me, probably on twitter, and want to get into Product!).
To my paid subscribers - firstly, thank you so much for your support. Secondly, I have cancelled your subscriptions and refunded your last payment (if you’re on an annual subscription, you’ll receive a pro rata refund). You will receive those in the next 5-10 days.
So, it’s bye for now.
The one piece of advice I’d like to leave you with is…. if you’re thinking about becoming a PM but haven’t made the leap yet: just click apply. You’ll never feel ‘ready’ and most of the learning comes in the application journey - the falling down and getting back up again (because it will happen). No matter your background, or your experience, Product is for everyone - so give it a go.
Big Product Love,
Jacs
